Does free health care for undocumented migrants exist? Yes, in Frankfurt.
The municipality of the German city of Frankfurt am Main has clear ideas about the integration of migrants, and while implementing its programs, it collaborates with many migrant organizations including our partner Maisha.

Participants in the second international meeting of migrant women held from 2 to 5 June 2011 in Frankfurt am Main had the opportunity, during a visit to City Hall offices, to get information on the city’s policies and programs for the integration of migrants – in particular on the provision of healthcare to undocumented migrants and on the activities of the multicultural department in support of victims of discrimination. Participants also learned about the community work of partner organization Maisha and its programs for women, children and youth, seniors, sports, culture, and so on. What’s more, they got insight into the possibilities of cooperation with migrant communities in Frankfurt, heard the life stories of migrant women and thus got to better know members of their partner organizations.
Since August 2010, the European Contact Group
has been implementing its project called Networking Migrant Women in cooperation with the migrant women organizations Maisha
from Germany and AkiDwa
from Ireland. The first meeting of the Networking Migrant Women project was held in Prague in February 2011, and the third
meeting is scheduled for October 2011 in Dublin.
This project aims to promote meetings between migrants from these three countries, enabling those who are interested to get
to know new people, new ideas, new project, and new activities. Migrants can mutually inspire each other, find out what works
in other countries and other organizations and what could be used in their own organizations or communities.

The Networking Migrant Women project is supported, as a part of the Lifelong Learning Programmes - Grundtvig Programme,
by the National Agency for European Educational Programmes.
