New publication on gender mainstreaming in the Czech Republic
The Czech Women's Lobby has issued a new publication called " Promoting gender equality: selected topics". It is a result
of a six-month's project of the CZL focussed on promoting gender equality during the Czech EU presidency. Our organisation
compiled on of the chapters, which was focussed on situation of migrant women in the Czech Republic.
The publication follows up five round tables organised by the CZL members: women in politics, domestic violence, antidiscriminatory legislation, migrant women's rights and women's rights during pregnancy and childbirth. The text you are reading is presenting a critical view upon the Czech government's policy and it also offers suggestions and examples of good practice.
You can order a free copy of the publication on the following email: info@czlobby.cz.
The chapter on migrant women's rights focusses on barriers and obstacles faced by migrant women during the integration process. These are very often not reflected by both those, designing migration and asylum legislation and social workers working with migrants. The text is divided into five sub-chapters (legal framework of migration, political and institutional framework, economic integration, equal opportunities of women and men during the process of integration). Each chapter takes into account a gender perspective of the problem and offers recommendations to solve them.
