(17 June 2011, Brussels) On the eve of World Refugee Day, which is marked on 20 June, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) is taking charge of supporting the asylum processes of the EU. The current discriminatory and incoherent provision of protection across the EU and the lack of expertise on gender-related persecutions are putting individuals at risk.
 

Saturday 28 May marks International Day of Action for Women’s Health, an occasion to remind decision-makers that women’s health is a fundamental human right and should be protected by all means. This year, however, developments in Hungary predicating a denial of women’s basic sexual and reproductive rights have cast a long shadow over the celebrations of European organisations working to protect women’s health and promote gender equality, including the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) and the International Planned Parenthood Federation European Network (IPPF EN).

Prague May 16, 2011 – A number of Czech forestry companies who have been accused of gravely mistreating their migrant employees in the past are currently in the midst of recruiting new workers from Romania, Hungary, and elsewhere for this year’s season. Job agencies in these countries are being contacted by the Czech-based companies to recruit a few hundred workers to do forestry work in different areas of the Czech Republic.

Meeting of migrant women from the Czech Republic, Germany and Ireland provided an opportunity to be inspired, to learn what has worked in other countries and other organizations, and what they could use in their own organizations.

Among the findings of the latest Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) report is an issue of particular concern to the European Network of Migrant Women (ENoMW): few Member States guarantee the autonomous status of spouses, even in situations of domestic violence.

European Contact Group has the honor to invite you to attend the international conference Women and Economy, which will be held on March 17^th and organized by the Czech Women's Lobby in cooperation with the Fridrich Ebert Stiftung. Event will be focused on two major issues "care" and "crisis". As a part of the programme two publications on gender aspects of the economical crisis will be presented.
