New publication on migrant women in the Czech Republic has been published

[publikace/FES_publikace.jpg]The phenomenon of rapidly growing number of migrants coming to Europe has also become a hot issue in the Czech Republic in recent couple of years. Czech society has to find ways for a peaceful coexistence.

It is also crucial to reflect on the gender dimension of migration - espcially when designing new laws and regulations. It is important to realize the fact that women play an important role in this process and their needs and problems are sometimes very different from those faced by male migrants.

It is a result of a six-month's project of the CZL focussed on promoting gender equality during the Czech EU presidency. Our organisation compiled on of the chapters, which was focussed on situation of migrant women in the Czech Republic.

These are some of the reasons why women’s movements remain mobilized throughout Europe.

Towards Gender-Sensitive Migration Policy

[EN/instraw.jpg][Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 4 Feb. 2009] In an effort to better understand current trends in women’s migration and their impact on policy, the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) released the results of two Virtual Dialogues held in September and November 2008.
The two Dialogues brought together experts from around the globe to examine migration and development from a gender perspective.
